BAR Honda run Torque Transfer system again

Despite the setback of having their Torque Transfer system banned by the FIA exactly a month ago, Lucky Strike BAR Honda have continued development and are running a modified version this weekend. Following successful testing of the system at Monza last week, BAR have made the decision to run with the device during this weekends Italian Grand Prix.

The software controlled device connects the front wheels, allowing torque transfer from one wheel to another. Simply put, this allows the team to transfer more braking power to the unloaded inside wheel, while helping prevent a lock up. Slow corners show the most benefit, with the driver able to take the turn both faster and smoother.

Previously the system involved various hydraulic elements that contravened the rules, as these constituted a power source. The new system is mechanically operated, and therefore falls within the regulations.
