It's Force India for 2008

Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has confirmed that it has approved the request to change Spyker's name for 2008. After the buy out of the team by Michiel Mol and Indian business tycoon Vijay Mallya, the team will be known as Force India F1. It has been revealed by Mol that the Silverstone based outfit will test under their new identity at the start of the winter tests in November.

It is undebatable that the name of the team will open up new doors for the sport in India. As well as attracting more interest from the country to F1, it should also help attract big-name Indian sponsors to the team.

However it has been suggested by some fans on our messageboard that teams operating under the name of a country should be left to A1GP and that nationalism has no place in F1 team names.
