Honda Racing F1 have missed out on another title this year, losing a special award to Northumbria University in a recent exclusive event. Northumbria University, not renowned for their F1 race winning expertise, faced up to Honda Racing F1 and the Department for International Development in the 14th Computing Awards for Excellence.

Held at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London, the IT industries 'Oscars' rewards the very best in the industry, with host Graham Norton presenting the 22 category winners with their awards. The awards recognise the organisations amongst the UK IT community that have demonstrated excellence in their industry during the past 12 months, and seek to reward organisations who have contributed to the development and deployment of innovative IT systems that improve business operations or enhance public services.

Facing their competitors in the 'Most IT-Enabled Organisation' category, the judges were looking for the company that demonstrates the best use of IT throughout its organisation to meet objectives, achieve greater competitiveness or improve public services, showing how IT is fundamental to achieving business goals.

David France, IT Director at Honda Racing F1, has said that "In the world of Formula One, success is as much about having the best in the back room as it is about being the best in the driving seat." Success is winning, and there could only be one winner. Sadly, it wasn't Honda Racing F1, with the Brackley squad losing out in the final to the people at Northumbria University.

Looks like there's another title to be won in 2007...
