Despite having Jenson Button scoring more points than any other driver in the latter part of the season, Rubens Barrichello feels there's a lot more work to be done at Honda Racing F1. "I think that this team has a huge amount of potential, but still has some work to do if we are to become consistent winners," Barrichello told Autosport. "It's very hard for someone new to come in and change the ideas of everyone, especially when the team has been running for a number of years now with their own ideas how everything should work. I think I have good experience of what Ferrari had, and the areas that we need to develop here at Honda."

Back in October, Rubens made similar comments, suggesting that Honda Racing F1 were to blame for his apparent lack of pace, commenting that "here we do too much PR and we think too little about driving," adding that he'd "lost time, with the team, to get used to drive this Honda."

"At the beginning of the year I had a problem with the brakes," Barrichello explained. "We could not understand why a brake disc was 100°C hotter than the other one. And they [the team] didn't want to change the system."

Despite being soundly beaten by team mate Jenson Button through 2006, the Brazilian still thinks that his team mate has a lot to learn.

"He has a lot of talent and he knows how to drive this car - he's been coping with it for a few years. I think it's just from lack of experience that he hasn't asked for more changes, so basically you see me complaining a lot more than he does."

"I think he's learning a lot, and to be a champion you really need to learn," continued Rubens. "I've never been one, but I probably know what it takes."

"I think we have been pushing each other quite hard. And quite honestly, without any modesty, I've been doing quite well. As I said I think Jenson is quite well adapted to the car. I've just not been scoring points that I should have been."

Jenson, renowned for his smooth driving style, scored more points than any other driver, including Michael Schumacher and world champion Fernando Alonso, after his win in Hungary. At the end of the season, he totaled 56 points compared to Rubens' 30.
