King gets Cheeky with all-weather Earth. We think.

Relaxing in the stylish surroundings of Gillingham train station, Karl King pondered on the launch of the Earthy RA107, but somehow got distracted by a weather girl. Easily done. Things just seem to go from bad to worse for everyone's favourite TV weathergirl, Sian Lloyd. Only a few weeks ago, her partner, Lembit Opik MP, dropped their engagement in favour of running off with one of the Cheeky Girls. I'm not sure which one, much like Mr Opik, I imagine.

Then the inevitable occurred, with ITV giving her the boot, announcing that there is now no place for her at the station due to her weather map mysteriously going missing…

Of course, with no link whatsoever to the previous paragraph, let's talk about the launch of the RA107 last Monday. Honda's radical new approach has anyone who knows anything about F1 talking about it, some with a very cynical approach.

One argument about the earthy theme is that it is pointless in a sport which tries it's hardest to kill the planet every other weekend. However, I'm sure the team will plant a geranium and this problem will be solved.

I have also heard someone commenting on the amount of carbon dioxide the team put in the atmosphere by flying from the test in Bahrain to the launch in London, before flying back to Bahrain to continue their testing. To this, I again point to the geranium.

This was probably the same person who commented that the RA107 donned the worst livery in the sport today. This person obviously is a rabbit and thus lives in a burrow, therefore meaning they have not seen the Spyker F8-V-something-or-other. We'll forgive the rabbit though, because it's really not all too interesting.

I can exclusively reveal that our Jens and Rubens will be painting their helmets yellow to pay homage to the main source of energy of this planet, and make the car's image very complete. You can take that with a pinch of salt though, because I cannot remember if it was Nick Fry who told me this or the rabbit…

Personally, I very much liked the initiative of having the school children at the launch to tie in with the eco-friendly scheme. Perhaps we'll see them replacing the grid girls on Honda's places come Australia. Let's hope not though, chaps. It's nice to see that little bit of glamour which us British fans are presented with only through Louise Goodman. I'd like to see Vicki Butler-Henderson take the role of someone insignificant at ITV-F1. Her talents are wasted on Fifth Gear (otherwise known as 'The show that repeats everything from the superior Top Gear, two months later and to a far lesser standard'. Really.) We can have her replace someone with stupid hair and an irritating voice.

James Allen, for example.

It will be interesting to see how the car performs against the team's constant play-downs regarding the car's ability. We'll talk about that in 13 days time!

Tuesday saw the launch of the 'My Earth Dream', sorry, 'my earth dream' charity. On the website you are offered the chance to buy a tiny microscopic pixel of the livery of the RA107 on which your name will feature. My first thoughts were that only sad anoraks with nothing better do would buy this. Naturally then the first thing I did was pay a pound and pledge never to wash my teeth again at the risk of using water to buy a pinhead-sized part of the left sidepod.

Next time you're watching the race through a Bresser Messier N-130 telescope, do look out for me. I recommend you let me know you've seen me via the internet rather than paying me a visit though, as my teeth may be at a stage of severe deterioration by that stage…
