Lucky Strike BAR Honda's Malaysian Grand Prix lasted just three laps as both Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson suffered failures early in the event. Jenson's race ended after oil started leaking from the rear of the car, causing the driver to spin. After recovering, the plumes of smoke were an immediate indicator that his race would be over.

Anthony Davidson, in his first race for BAR, ended parked on the grass, flames licking around the rear of the car. Anthony explained that the race "while it lasted, was fun."

In a masterpiece of understatement, he commented that "it's not exactly what I wanted."

"It's a shame for the team, but it's what the new engine regulations have caused," he added.

Jenson Button pulled fewer punches, expressing his disappointment in no uncertain terms. "Getting an engine to do three laps is not hard," said the frustrated driver. "We've made a huge step back in every area at the moment."

"It's just not good enough," he added. In case there was any doubt, he exclaimed that "I'm very angry!"

Worryingly for the team, Jenson can't see any short term improvement. "It's got to change, but I can't see where it'll change any time soon."

It could be a very long season...
