BAR Honda took to the tarmac of the famous Mojave Airport in California last week, running their car at over 250mph, becoming the fastest ever F1 team in the process. Here's the very best of the photographs of the day.

The car arrives at Mojave Airport.

Unpacked, the team work on the car, readying it for the 400kph attempt.

While the work continues, Alan van der Merwe takes a walk around Mojave's famous airplane graveyard.

The car's ready. It's time to go.

Pulling onto the tarmac for the first time, Alan's ready to set a record.

Time for a quick glance at the fin.

Turned round, Alan heads to the end of the runway.

Foot to the floor, the 067 appears in front of the dramatic Californian scenery.

415kph!

Past the marker, the driver lifts gently off the throttle.

But it still takes a long time to stop.

Target achieved, with a certificate to prove it.
