Sayonara Sato-san: A tribute to Takuma - Part 1

Takuma Sato leaves BAR Honda this year following four years and 34 races with the team. He's a great guy and will be sorely missed. It's not much, but we've built a pictorial tribute to Taku which we present here, starting with 2001. Throughout 2001, Takuma Sato competed in the highly competitive British Formula 3 championship, ending up the series Champion with 12 race wins. In his spare time, Takuma racked up further wins in the Marlboro Masters of F3 at Zandvoort, as well as the International F3 race supporting the British Grand Prix.

Comfortable in the cockpit, Sato's ready to run.


With just 154 previous laps in an F1 car, the F3 driver finishes the test just 0.5s behind Jacques Villeneuve.


As is the norm for the Japanese superstar, Honda PR duties need to be fulfilled. The Honda media day rounds off 2001.
