"At the end of the practice sessions for the German Grand Prix, I thought the team had mastered all the small technical problems I had to go through over the week-end. Yesterday for instance, during the last practice session we only completed two runs instead of five.

"Today, was a reasonable day. This morning was already very hot with 30 degrees temperature, but I finished in 18th position with 1.17.793. I had a bit of a drama behind Jarno Trulli (Panasonic Toyota) as his engine suddenly blew up spilling oil on the track. I managed to keep the car in-line and not slow down too much.

In the afternoon, for the qualifying session we even improved the time slightly which was a good sign. But we were a bit unlucky because first my time was cancelled as the red flag came up after Scott Speed’s accident.

Then, when we got going again, like in Magny-Cours I got blocked coming out of the pits by David Coulthard. I had to drive on the dust and I damaged my tires. So my second flying lap was less competitive because I have lost time. What a shame because I thought I was due to be faster.

That’s just the way it goes sometimes. It’s quite frustrating when everything is set for a good result. Anyway, I think it is going to be an interesting race tomorrow and we have got good tyres from Bridgestone."
