Firstly, I apologise to the forum contributor MF1RacingTeam for doing this. I had to do it because this is simply the most superb piece of text seen on our forum to date. It completely sums up what this site is about, and why Phil and myself put the time in to create a fan site following MF1 Racing.

The post is in response to the current site poll which asks "Will Midland score by the end of the season?"

I'd like all visitors to have the opportunity to read this, and would encourage them all to respond to the site poll and indeed respond to this story.

John - a personal thank you from me for placing this on our forum and sharing the most eloquent thought of the year with us all.

Consider the state of affairs prior to the last year's acquisition by Alex. Then consider the potential that this team has going into 2008. There are things today that are well behind this team already- things that the paddock pundits said were simply insurmountable. The amount of complexity that has been undertaken by the owner, management and the individuals who make up each side of the garage and the TEAM as an entity, is staggering - especially considering the competition.

Meanwhile, these folks (whom the press and competition suggested were supposed to have folded up their tents long ago) seem to still be here. They seem to be generating enough interest to be seen as "of value" to alot of knowledgeable, wealthy and influential people. Too, there are stats that show that MF1 has made more progress against their competitors, than any team on the grid. Even Pat Symonds has had to give up on his sarcasm and indifference when the M16s were passing his Renault's or leaving them behind for DNFs this season. He's no longer asking if Midland is still around.

Alex attends races personally; he interacts with the garage 'mates with sincerity; the team's website is the only one in all of F1 that has regular and educating "news" items; and the team hides nothing. Colin and James Key take their FIA and Whiting lumps with level headed understanding and get on with the work that has to be done. The communications and public relations from this team at simply the best in all of F1 and professional ALWAYS! Technically, there is too much postive progress to address. They've overcome too much inertia and always against all the odds.

So, scoring in one season? Against the current field? Despite what they've already accomplished? I suppose it is a measurement that most fans can identify with and should expect at the end of the day - albeit this is a helluva long day! But, yes, points will be there. I fully expect that they'll score F1 points soon - probably in 2006 - although I don't much care though if it's 2007. I celebrate what these underdogs have accomplished each time they qualify to contend on the grid., goal by goal, and how they've held up under extreme pressure.

Except for the financial backing, no one is a bigger supporter of this team than me, of that I'm certain. In particular, I like the style that MF1 Racing has established - a solid work ethic in both the factory and garage - from highly skilled people - a management team that sees individual effort and who is there for every person, willing to promote what they do as individuals every day (see the web stories) and an owner that celebrates how they make up the TEAM. One that operates with an established vision which "encapsulates the spirit of Formula One: precision, sophistication, passion, and fun - a dynamic business in a dynamic sport.". What more could any serious contending drivers, mechanics, engineers or factory and support staff want? What do other teams across the entire paddock have for a stated vision? I'd be thinking that none of them have anything so forthright as that of MF1 Racing... because I've looked and haven't found it yet!

Will MF1 Racing score? I think they already have. Look around. Those aren't buzzards circling overhead. ( Perhaps the would be purchasers should go and buy lunch for Sir Frank. Even Eddy is telling him to give it up!). Rather, those are smart business owners and investors with race savvy acumen at the door, trying to become a bigger part of what is right now, a clearly dynamic team - poised to do very well, very soon. If I were Alex, I'd be reaching for my list of objectives and putting a tick on the box that says - "demonstrate the team's worth by becoming a desireable acquisiton"!

BTW, that "tick box" should not be misconstrued as being a FOR SALE sign. Actually, it is more of a score card that doesn't use points to determine value and worth.

My take on things anyway.
