After the disappointment of last week's Australian GP, Force India's chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne is hoping the team will this time achieve their goal of making it through to the second qualifying session, commenting, 'with new parts for Malaysia now we should be in a position to make another step forward'.

Giancarlo Fisichella, who won the Malaysian GP in 2006 whilst at Renault, reinforced Gascoyne's view, adding, 'the VJM01 feels more consistent and stable, and now we have some new aero parts coming for this race I think we can make another step forward.'

Adrian Sutil cited a point for improvement, as 'we were not as quick as the others on the long straights'.

Both race drivers are in Malaysia after flying straight from Australia to acclimatise to the heat and humidity of Kuala Lumpur.
