The 2006 Formula One season is entering its final lap and the premiere season of the BMW Sauber F1 Team is coming to a close. However, the team is still determined to achieve one great goal this year. The Brazilian Grand Prix in two weeks will finally decide the Drivers' as well as the Constructors' World Championship of the pinnacle of motorsports. The BMW Sauber F1 Team is currently one point ahead of Toyota in fifth place of the constructors' standings and determined to defend this position.

For Nick Heidfeld a good performance in Brazil is, therefore, of the utmost importance. "In Formula One racing the positions are the most important aspect," the German driver confirms. "We battle for them the whole year long and that is the main motivation for everyone involved. Obviously, you ultimately want to win every race but in order to achieve that, it is necessary to develop step by step. A sixth place wouldn't be too bad, since that would already mean a significant improvement. But when you're so close to reaching a goal you want to achieve the best possible result."

BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen adds: "We started on eighth position so a sixth place would already constitute quite a leap forward. However, our internal goal is naturally to achieve fifth place and now we are determined to accomplish just that."
