Just as it was the case in the morning session, Robert Kubica again had to execute the major part of the BMW Sauber F1 Team's preparation work. In the end, the Pole finished 14th on the time sheets. Nick Heidfeld lost an hour due to another hydraulics problem and finished 15th.
The second practice session for the Chinese Grand Prix turned out to be an extremely busy one for Robert Kubica. His team-mate, Nick Heidfeld, lost a lot of time due to a hydraulic problem, hence, Robert had to execute the major part of the setup work and the tyre evaluation tests.
Over the course of the 90-minute session, the Pole completed a total of 6 stints and 39 laps respectively, with his final two stints being nine and ten-lap long-runs. He set his personal fastest lap rather early in the session, in his third stint, and with his time of 1:38.379 minutes, he finished 14th on the time sheets.
Nick, however, again experienced a difficult session. On the sixth lap of his first stint, the German was stopped by a hydraulic failure and had to wait for more than 60 minutes until his car was repaired and he could continue his preparation programme. Afterwards, he completed another two five-lap stints and in the first, he set his personal minimum time of 1:38.388 minutes to finish 15th, right behind his team-mate.
Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen again proved to be the quickest man of the session, with his 1:36.607-mionute lap.
In the third free practice session, held on Saturday from 11.00 to 12.00hrs local time (04.00 to 05.00hrsd BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team will continue its preparations for qualifying and race.
