BMWSauberF1 Team is testing at Paul Ricard

In the morning both Nick and Robert did aero work for the next Grand Prix in Monaco. In the afternoon they both did tyre work for Michelin, with Nick working on compounds and Robert on casings. The team managed to complete the scheduled programme. The test today has been on the 3.5 kilometre track.

Test in Paul Ricard. May 16th –  18th 2006

Day one  –  Tuesday

Weather conditions: hot and dry, air: 19-26°C, track: 21-41°C

Number of cars participating: 12

 Fastest lap overall: 1:05.686, Fernando Alonso, Renault R26, Michelin

Nick Heidfeld :  

Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.06-07 / BMW P86 V8

Test kilometres today: 359 km (100 laps)

Fastest lap: 1:06.466s (lap 74)

Robert Kubica:  

Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.06-06 / BMW P86 V8

Test kilometres today: 442 km (123 laps)

Fastest lap: 1:06.588s (lap 105)

The team managed to complete the scheduled programme. The test today has been on the 3.593 kilometre track. Tomorrow the teams will use the same track, but on Thursday it will change to the 5.406 kilometre configuration.

What comes next:

 Tomorrow Jacques Villeneuve will arrive to take over from Robert for the first of his two days. The schedule is to continue the tyre programme, do set-up work and a short programme to validate the aero work.
