In the second free practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld completed an extensive preparation programme without encountering any technical problems whatsoever. Robert Kubica finished sixth, while Nick Heidfeld ended the day in 16th.
Completing 36 laps each, the BMW Sauber F1 Team aces were the busiest
driver pairing of the session. As in session one, conditions were
perfect, giving Robert and Nick the opportunity to extensively prepare
for the remainder of the weekend.
As witnessed in nearly every second practice session of the 2008 season
to date, the BMW Sauber F1 Team didn't seek to set quick lap times but
instead focused on working on set-up and executing tyre evaluations.
Nick and Robert both set their personal fastest laps in the first half
of the session.
In the second half, however, when the majority of the field went out to
set competitive lap times on the ever improving track, Robert and Nick
completed long-runs. Therefore, Robert finished sixth on the time
sheets with his 1:46.384-minute lap and Nick, who set a personal best
time of 1:47.760 minutes, had to make do with 16th.
In the third practice session, starting on Saturday at 19:00hrs local
time (12:00hrs BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team will complete its
preparations for the remainder of the Singapore GP weekend.
