Featuring a brand new rear wing, as well as changes to other parts such as nose, front wing and so on, the new design created a bit of an impact in the paddock of barcelona.
The rear wing is featuring a new concept, by having 4 profiles in the central part, as well as massive splitters. Previously all rear wings had just 2 wing profiles.
Heidfeld: "In the case of our car, it would almost be simpler to list the things that haven't changed. We have a new front wing, a new nosecone, new sidepods, a new engine cowl and a revamped diffuser. However, it still isn't what you would describe as a double diffuser. We're planning to introduce that as part of the next big upgrade scheduled for Istanbul. That's when we're also planning to reintroduce KERS. The new aero package that we are using here for the first time leaves no room for our original KERS, and our priority here has to be focusing on the new aerodynamics and adjusting the setup accordingly".
I'm a little surprised they went with the higher nose, but what do I know? The little wing in the middle is an interesting solution that kind of reminds me of some of the cars from the 80s and 90s.
what would this be called a triple difuser rear wing? looks interesting wondering if the rules only allowed for this solution in the middle of the wing
redesigning kers to match the car with the new aerodynamic seems very reasonable, seems like the right approach to take. If they manage to slim kers down and get the new diffuser to work with the car we might get significant improvement in turkey assuming the new aero works this weekend. Getting to q3 would be a dream result. Keep it up bmwsauber, keep those upgrades coming
So we are going to get a next BIG upgrade for Turkey. No details yet on whether they will be going for DD or TD. Looks like Albert3 is sweating real hard at Hinwil, at the moment.
I am happy, at least for now. The evolutionary design is striking and reflects what our Engineers at the BMW Sauber F1 factories have done. So far, things looks so promising, in addition to Kubica's statement as well. Let's hope for a good show this week-end.
Looking at the 1st practice times we're still a bit off the pace, though some good sector times in different laps may point to inconsistency. Hopefully they're just hiding the pace, or concentrating on set-up...
Maybe our new striking nose will allow our forum doubters to get their noses back into joint, and support the team a wee bit more. lol We do need as many positive vibes to overcome the lam start to the season. Let's go BMW.

Well, Kubica ended 3rd and Heidfeld 4th in P1 so I don't know if you count this unsufficient. In my eyes, this is EXCELLENT new.
