Another failure of BMW. What a suprise...

They simply do not want to sell the team as it would be a major blow to their ego if the team is sold and get's successfull in someone else's hands.

They will pretend that they are trying and issue BS statements like this one.

Peter Sauber says BMW asked for too much money with sell of factory to him.

Now it will remain to be seen what that would mean legally. it was crucial to get into recently signed Concorde Agreement. Team would have continuity back from Sauber beginnings which would result in better money allocation. If now they would be accepted at later date on rule of excemption I wonder what that would mean finacially. Probably even less likely to do get an investor committed.

For sure it's also a majo blow for Peter Sauber's personal finances. The value of his 20% stake in team will shrink dramatically, as it looks like team assets will be sold our piece by piece. New teams may be interested in buying movable equipment.

BMW is disgrace of Formula 1. God, I hope I will never again see those loosers in this sport.

I feel cheated, I ve been supporting this team since the beggining, tolerating even their shittiest performances, watched every practice, quali and race for 3 yrs, keeping my fingers crossed for the team just to find out that it wasnt about racing for the bmw. Shame on you! I will never buy a bmw roadcar!

It is very disappointing, I've never been happy with the take over because of more F1 oriented happenings such as the way BMW failed to gel with Frank Williams. Then the JV issue and the lack of input when Robert had opportunities.
Now it's not playing ball with Peter Sauber's attempt to rescue the company of which he's been responsible for dedicated employee's since 83. He's mostly likely seen the young people he hired grow into families and bare children who may be young teenagers today. This guy cares about the cause and the commitment of life.
Sure he is motivated by the all mighty dollar, but if your not in today's world you can be swallowed instantly by its greed.
Asoft's opinion to me holds lots of water, BMW would hate to see a successor be triumphant. Again, a typical example of if it doesn't work their way, it's the highway !

I think there's still lots of time, and FOTA sounds like they are willing to do what they can to help a late entry, but if BMW holds out and there is no Sauber and/or Hinwil team on the grid for 2010, it will be very very disappointing, and BMW will deserve to burn in hell.

Does anyone know of a way to contact BMW, where we can perhaps email our thoughts to them? They may not listen or care, but maybe a little bit of fan reaction could help things along a bit. If nothing else, they'll know about all the people they're @#$%& off.

They don't care about our emails. They only care about our wallets. If we really do care about this enough to put heart ahead of brain when deciding on BMW road car purchase, this would be the best penalty for them.

I love BMW road cars. But I cannot imagine myself driving one now.

Now... just imagine that month ago they were still offering their RACE CLUB platinum membership for €1,000 per year. I wonder if they offer immediate refund now.

Very sad to hear...and frustrating. As a BMW fan, owner, and enthusiest, this has been very hard to deal with really. I have also admired Peter Sauber, and to see he end (potentially) like this is sad.

Spot on, they don't want anyone to emulate Brawn-style buyout and that's why they set such a high price for Hinwil factory so on-one could afford it.

I guess it's now FIA turn, they should select another new entrant for 2010...

You do what you want, but I just sent BMW worldwide and BMW Canada emails of what I thought of them and the current situation.

If all that happens is to waste 5 minutes of time for some BMW office clerk, fine, but at least I told them what I think. However, if they start getting hundreds or thousands of emails, marketing people (same thing for politicians) know that not everyone sends emails/letters, so that in reality one email/letter likely represents 10 or 20 people.

Plus, I now feel a little bit better knowing I just gave somebody at BMW a piece of my mind, twice!

FIA is now searching for 4th new team to enter F1, as the Hinwil team is now history for good.

I doubt you can rule Hinwil out this early in the game, but with the world economy who knows. It will be a lost opportunity if it gets passed on by all of F1.
I'm hoping Sauber is able to secure a trump card and BMW will remain just greedy enough to not walk away empty handed.
Again its an against the odds deal because of BMW's arrogant demeanour. That attitude if you are not going to win, may as well take the whole thing down with you seems to be a way of thinking.

I say bad news cause Mercedes was the highest chance for engines next year, as Peter has spotted in Stuttgart for negotiations. Its unlikely that Mercedes could supply more than 3 teams.

So, while there are still other options, Ferrari being the strongest, it wont be good that RB get that 3rd nod.

Ideas of how things will develop?

I can't imagine BMW would allow Mercedes supply in the future. Just imagine Sauber-Mercedes team doing better than BMW hehe.

They won't care about Ferrari, Renault or Toyota engines... but not Mercedes

I was shocked and saddened to learn that BMW is leaving F1. It was upsetting to hear that the the team was not sold back to PS. I can't imagine that BMW needs the income that it would get from the sale, Especially when you look at the loss that they were prepared to take in orger to get their hands on the Mini ans Rolls Royce brands. So it must be for some other reason. Unless Mario is given a fixed budget for motorsport and wants to recoup as much s possible.

I am very disappointed by BMW's actions.
