Two races within eight days are nothing unusual for Jacques Villeneuve and Nick Heidfeld. However, they are well aware of the fact that the logistical effort required for two events in quick succession is gigantic. The World Championship race in Hockenheim on 30th July marks the beginning of an intense Grand Prix programme. Just one week after the German Grand Prix, the Hungarian GP in Budapest awaits the BMW Sauber F1 Team.

"As a driver, it isn't a big deal to compete in two races within eight days," says Nick. "Back-to-backs in Europe, however, are tough for the team. They are required to disassemble the big motor home in Hockenheim and put it back together in Budapest in so little time."

Considering the logistical efforts, Jacques believes that two overseas Grand Prix in quick succession make a lot of sense: "Particularly during the overseas races it would be a lot more hard work if it wasn't back-to-back. You would fly back home to test and then fly back for the next overseas race."

From the drivers' point of view, this constellation would be more appealing anyway, as Jacques admits with a smile on his face: "I like competing in back-to-back events since the alternative is to spend two or three days testing. I would be very happy if you could get rid of a lot of testing and have more races instead."
