Felipe Massa is the winner of the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso came second, thus winning his second world title. Robert Kubica finished ninth for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Nick Heidfeld crashed out of the final race of the season on lap 64. Race Update: the start.
The final race of the 2006 Formula One season, the Brazilian Grand Prix, is underway - and right after start the safety car was brought into play after Nico Rosberg (Williams) crashed into the barriers entering the start-finish straight. Robert Kubica is running in 9th position, Nick Heidfeld is 12th.

Race Update: after 11 laps.
The BMW Sauber F1 Team has secured fifth place in the Constructors' Championship. Both Toyota drivers were forced to retire and therefore won't be able to score any points. Robert Kubica is running in seventh place, while Nick Heidfeld holds ninth position.

Race Update: after 33 laps.
Both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers have completed their first pit stop at Sao Paulo. Robert Kubica rejoined in eighth position. Nick Heidfeld was hit by Vitantonio Liuzzi when he passed the Scuderia Toro Rosso driver, but was able to continue. The German holds ninth place.

Race Update: after 52 laps.
Currently both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers are running outside the points. Nick Heidfeld had to pit for a new front wing following his collision with Liuzzi and now holds 12th position. Robert Kubica entered the pit lane on lap 50 for the second time and is currently running in ninth place.
