Barcelona test Day2: Aero testing for BMW-Sauber

While the team did not have a problem free day, the results of the test were positive. Robert worked on dampers while Nick on set-up in the morning and then aero during the rest of the day. Today Ferrari surprised with a high mileage and a stunning pace.

Test in Barcelona 12th February – 14th February 2007

Programme:   While the team did not have a problem free day, the results of the test were positive. Robert worked on dampers while Nick on set-up in the morning and then aero during the rest of the day. The air and track temperatures above were for when the team were on the track, but there was a point when neither car was running when the temperatures went up several degrees.

Robert Kubica:   Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.07-01 / BMW P86/7 V8   Test kilometres today:  259 km (56 laps)   Fastest lap: 1:22.100 min (lap 53)

Nick Heidfeld: Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.07-02 / BMW P86/7 V8   Test kilometres today: 425 km (92 laps)     Fastest lap: 1:22.618 min (lap 19)

Weather conditions: Dry and warm Temperatures: Air: 9/16°C, Track: 9/24°C  

Number of cars participating: 18

Fastest lap overall: 1:21.181 min, Felipe Massa, Ferrari

What comes next:   Nick stays for his second day, while Robert leaves and Sebastian Vettel will take over for the final day. The exact programme for each car will not be decided until the team starts running, as there is a planned engine change on Sebastian’s car during the lunch break.  However, the team will work on aero, cooling, systems checks and also aim to do longer runs.
