The third race of the season, the Bahrain Grand Prix, is underway. Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica made a good start at the wheel of their BMW Sauber F1.07s. Both drivers defended their fifth and sixth grid positions.
The Safety Car is on the track, after Button and Speed collided at the back. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) is leading the race.
Update2:
After 14 laps, Nick Heidfeld is still lying in fifth position, trailing Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) by just one second. Robert Kubica is defending his sixth position against the charging Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault). The pit stops will be a crucial element in this race. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) is still leading the race.
Upadte3:
On lap 23, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica completed their first pit stops at the "Bahrain International Circuit", the last of the three top teams to do so. Nick is closely following World Champion Fernando Alonso (McLaren) in fifth position. Robert is running in seventh place, just behind Anthony Davidson (Super Aguri) who has yet to pit. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) is still leading the race.
Update4:
On lap 32, Nick Heidfeld passed Fernando Alonso (McLaren) for fourth position. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver was able to defend this position after his second pit stop on lap 42. Nick has already finished in fourth position in Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix. Robert, who pitted on lap 44 for the second time, is currently running in sixth position and also looks set to score points in the Bahrain Grand Prix. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) is still leading the race.
Update5:
Felipe Massa (Ferrari) is the winner of the 2007 Bahrain Grand Prix. The Brazilian crossed the line ahead of Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). Nick Heidfeld finished fourth, thus scoring another five points for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Robert Kubica, crossing the line in sixth position, adds three more points to the BMW Sauber F1 Team's tally. The BMW Sauber F1 Team therefore collects eight points in Bahrain and celebrates its best Grand Prix so far in 2007.
