In the third free practice session for the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers successfully completed their preparations for qualifying and race. Robert Kubica finished sixth and Nick Heidfeld took 15th position on the time sheets.

Just as it had been the case on Friday, the Saturday morning session also was held in relatively cool conditions (21° C), under overcast skies. On 11:25hrs, the action on the track was suspended, as the marshals needed time to repair damaged artificial turf adjacent to corner kerbing in the "Lycée" section. However, this red-flag situation did not hamper the BMW Sauber F1 Team's progress.

Nick had been forced to abort the second Friday session due to back pain. However, following a treatment of the team's physiotherapist, he was ready to compete in the final practice session.

Robert was the slightly busier and quicker driver of the BMW pairing. The Pole completed four stints and 20 laps respectively. On the first lap of his final stint, he set his personal fastest lap time of 1:15.535 minutes to finish sixth.

Nick also completed four stints but two laps less than his team-mate. Just as Robert, he wanted to set a competitive lap in the closing stages of the session but was hampered by traffic. Therefore, he couldn't do better than crossing the line in 1:16.060 minutes and finishing 15th.
