In an exciting 2007 British GP, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld finished fourth and sixth respectively, thus adding another eight World Championship points to the BMW Sauber F1 Team's tally and cementing its position as third power on the Formula One grid.

The 2007 British Grand Prix turned out to be another rewarding race for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. In the end, the team not only defended its third place in the Constructors Championship but even extended its lead over Renault - the fourth placed team - by a further five points.

Following the warm-up lap, Ferrari's Felipe Massa stalled his engine and consequently had to be pushed to the pits while the rest of the field started a second warm-up lap. Subsequently, Robert and Nick both made good starts, with the Pole defending his fourth position and the German passing Toyota's Ralf Schumacher and Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault) for sixth place. The Italian, however, struck back just two corners later and re-passed the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver.

From this point in time Robert and Nick both settled for defending their positions, with Nick hoping to gain more ground during the first round of pit stops. Indeed, when all the front runners had made their first stops - Robert on lap 16 and Nick on lap 20 - Nick had passed the Renaults of Fisichella and Kovalainen and continued in fifth position, just five seconds behind his team-mate.

Subsequently, neither Fisichella nor Kovalainen proved to be a threat for the pairing but Massa - who had started the race from the pit-lane - made quick progress and closed in on Nick. Robert (lap 41) and Nick (lap 43) pitted slightly earlier than the Ferrari driver and this proved to be an advantage for the latter. Massa pitted on lap 46 and rejoined the race ahead of Nick and right behind Robert.

Over the course of the final 15 laps, Massa made numerous efforts to pass Robert but the Pole delivered in fantastic style and fended off every attack from the Brazilian, who followed him like a shadow. In the end, Robert secured fourth place, just 0.3 seconds ahead of the Brazilian, thus scoring five valuable World Championship points. Nick completed the BMW Sauber F1 Team success by adding fine sixth place and another three points.
