The BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers completed an extensive programme in the second free practice ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix at the "Autodromo José Carlos Pace". Robert Kubica was twelfth fastest on Friday afternoon in Interlagos, with team-mate Nick Heidfeld 15th.

The BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers were out on the track within seconds of the start of the second 90-minute session and both completed five stints on the 4.309km circuit. The drivers were spared any heavy showers, with nothing more than light drizzle for a short period in the closing third of the practice and temperatures reaching 18 degrees Celsius.

Robert's fastest time of 1:12.862 minutes was clocked on the 15th of his 39 laps. This put the Pole 12th in the list of times. Nick completed 38 laps. A time of 1:12.948 minutes on lap 32 meant 15th place for the German. Together, the two BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers completed 77 laps.

The fastest time of the session was set by Renault driver Fernando Alonso, whose fastest lap in Interlagos was clocked at 1:12.314 minutes. The times were remarkably close in the second free practice: the entire field were within one second of each other.

Next up is a further practice session from 11:00 local time (16:00 CET) on Saturday. Then, three hours later, the BMW Sauber F1 Team will be battling for good grid positions in qualifying for the 16th Formula One race of the year.
