Jarno Trulli finished second todays just marginally slower than Michael Shcumacher at today's qualifying. Fernando Alonso, on the other hand could not find his teammate pace and finished 10th. Trulli run a perfect lap and he showed his customary speed in setting the second best lap and being in front of his teammate by almost one second.

Alonso, who was quite motivated to race in front of his home fans could not find the speed to move higher on the grid.

Trulli was very happy with the balance of the car:

"I had a perfect car this afternoon, thanks to the whole team. This morning we were quite busy, sorting out minor problems and working on a series of different things on the car. It all paid off with this very positive second place."

The pace of Trulli clearly backs Gascoyne's early words and showed that Renault is quite competitive at this track by splitting the two Ferraris that have brought their new Ferrari 2003-GA.

Alonso, on the other hand, was not able to match his teammate speed, but was, nevertheless, keeping his cool:

"This morning's session, although we had a slight delay, was very useful because we learnt a lot about tyres and car set- up. This afternoon my lap was good and I am confident that we have a more competitive car than in Imola. Tomorrow's qualifying should be good for us."

Both drivers are looking forward to tomorrow's key qual session and if they keep clear of mistakes they could position their Renaults quite high up the grid.
