Italian Renault F1 driver Jarno Trulli is already in Monaco where he will get in shape for the demands of the upcoming Monaco GP. The Italian driver is going to follow an intense physical training program to get ready for the extra demands of the narrow track.

Renault F1 has high hopes for this upcoming weekend and very recently Mike Gascoyne, Renault Technical Director, declared that they could even get a 1-2 finish in the Monaco GP.

Trulli is also confident that with a good car he can be at the front:

"It is one of the most important races of the season," says Jarno. "The R23 should handle well there. It requires a lot of concentration on the part of the driver, and he must feel 100% confident if he is to do a good lap. I am quite confident."

The team has been working hard this week on private testing conducted by test driver Allan McNish in order to have as many chances as possible to reach the podium or even to win under the right circumstances.

This week Renault run 252 laps around the Paul Ricard track as preparation for the upcoming race.

The team has been testing a new engine spec, tyres and aerodynamic improvements:

"We had another productive day’s testing with Allan. We were able to run 156 laps, and concentrated on tyre performance for Monaco with some long runs." Said Mike Gascoyne. "We also continued evaluating the updated aerodynamic package. Overall, we completed significant mileage during this test session with some very useful results. We are feeling confident and now look forward to the next race in Monte-Carlo.”
