McNish heavily tested at Barcelona!

Renault F1 test driver, Allan McNish, is going through an extinsive testing season this week at Barcelona. The team, that after signing the Heathrow Agreement has limited testing between races, wants to take as much advantage as possible of their limited test sessions. On Wednesday the Scot run for 146 to the Spanish track, 35 laps more than anybody else did:

As this is the final testing session before the summer ban, we concentrated on tyre development, working on long runs with high fuel loads,” commented Executive Director of Engineering Pat Symonds. “More than anything, I think we tested Allan today, who had to complete more than two and a half race distances! We also began validating the new aerodynamic package, which performed as well as expected.”

On Thursday, McNish xompleted 99 laps to the Spanish circuit continuying the development of the R23:

“It was much the same story as yesterday,” confirmed Pat Symonds. “We did a lot of running today, and the tyre work allowed us to make our choice for Silverstone, as well as testing a number of new constructions for the coming races.”

Renault plans to continue the testing today on preparation of the British GP.
