Alonso 6th in morning practice

The Renault F1 team has started the Monaco Grand Prix weekend in good form after finishing 6th and 8th the fist hour of practice at Montecarlo. The session was once again dominated by the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher who finished with a best time of 1.16.502 more than 0.7 seconds ahead of Takuma Sato who finished 2nd with a best of 1.17.279.

His teammate, Jenson Button, finished 3rd less than a second behind the World Champion.

A surprise was to see a David Coulthard in a cometitive McLaren setting the 5th best time, behind Ricardo Zonta on his Toyota, with a best of 1.17.524 afterv 14 laps.

The Renault drivers pit lots of laps today and finished 6th and 8th with Fernando Alonso in front with a best time of 1.17.686 after 21 laps and Trulli setting a best of 1.17.856 after 23 laps.

Kimi Raikkonen and Rubens Barrichello could not follow their teammates pace as they finished 10th and 12th this morning. The Williams BMW of Ralf Schumacher did not set a time after completing only three laps and having to park his car on the swiming pool area. His teammate, Juan Pablo Montoya, finished 9th best today after 16 laps.
