The Renault F1 team had a tough day today at the Canadian Grand Prix when both drivers had to retire after mechanical problems. Jarno Trulli’s race was a mere 10 meters afetr a suspected suspension failure saw him move to the side of the track after the lights went out. One of the drivers to benefit from Trulli’s retirement was Fernando Alonso who overtook Juan Pablo Montoya for third before the first turn.

From there on Alonso looked ready to finish on the podium but a fuel rig problem oin his first pit stop and a transmission failure when he was pushing hard Ralf Schumacher for third place saw him retire for mechanical failure for the first time this season.

However, Renault showed good pace during the whole weekend and a podium could have been possible if only things had gone better.
