Renault F1 Technical Director, Mike Gascoyne, has lots of confidence on the potential of the new upgrades made to the R23. The team expects to score a good amount of points at Silverstone that would take them closer to their ultimate goal of finishing 3rd on the Constructor's Championship. Mike Gascoyne feels that Silverstone suits quite well the Renault car, specially taking under considerations the new aero upgrades that the team will bring to this race:

"Silverstone should suit us very well. The circuit most obviously akin to it is Barcelona and we ran very strongly there earlier this season, coming close to winning the race. Silverstone is a circuit which rewards strong aerodynamic performance, and we have further improvements in that area for this race. I think we can have a very competitive weekend, and take points off our direct competitors." He said.

In order to finish 3rd at the end of the year Renault needs to improve their car and to put it on the level of their main rival for that race, McLaren's MP4-17D. A major change is scheduled for this race:

"We will have a major bodywork update on the car. We have decided to christen this R23B as it groups together a significant number of detail modifications into a single package, which had always been planned for Silverstone. Following a positive test in Barcelona last week, we expect it to bring a definite gain on the stopwatch." Said Gascoyne.
