Renault F1 driver Fernando Alonso was frustrated after the British GP that an electric failure could have prevented him from scoring good points. After the race he talked with several Spanish journalists about how he saw the race:

“I lost a great opportunity to score the points of the fourth place at least, even maybe I could have fought for the podium, and even finish second at the race, but in Formula 1 there are no ifs, so therefore I have to accept with what I have. A DNF and to hope that things will go better in Germany.” He added. "Races are like that, I started quite well, with a good start, overtaking Da Matta and Montoya and almost also Michael Schumacher, but he throwed me to the grass and I almost went off. Montoya took advantage of it and passed me”.

Alonso thought he missed a bit of luck at Silverstone:

“It was a race in which the luck that I have had in other occasions was not there. The first Safety car they could have skipped, and what can I say about the intruder, that was a total mess and I was one of the worse out.” Alonso said. “When I saw it I was quite surprised and I right there knew that the safety Car was going to be deployed. I had to wait for the pits to refuel Jarno, and therefore I went down to 14th place from the 6th place I was at that moment.”
On the second fuel stop everything went wrong as he started to experience electronic problems:
“I entered the pit lane with the engine malfunctioning and when I was in the refueling the engine stalled since it did not rev up. They had to push me to continue in the race and from there on I did not have any electronic aids, nor electronic gear change, nor traction control, but I did not loose the pace and I was able to come back and to fight with other drivers. Then, suddenly the electronics failed again and therefore the gearbox went wild and I had to abandon the race.” He added. “Now to think in Germany, where I hope to finish. The car has gone well, the tyre choice was the correct one and only bad luck has prevented me from achieving a better position.”
