Renault F1 Driver Jarno Trulli was at the wheel of the R24 today at the first day of testing in Jerez.
The Italian finished the day second best behind the competitive BAR of Jenson Button.
Seven teams were present at the Spanish track today with the Jordan EJ14 chassis making his second test after some laps run last week at Silverstone.
The test was dominated by Jenson Button who set a best lap of 1.17.712 after 80 laps followed closely by the Renault of Jarno Trulli who set a best lap of 1.17.864 after 64 laps. Button's teammate, Takuma Sato, finished 3rd almost 0.2 slower than Trulli.
The only Ferrari available at the test was the Ferrari F2003-GA of Luca Badoer who finished 4th ahead of the McLaren Mercedes of Alex Wurz and David Coulthard.
Besides speculation on the raw speed of McLaren, confirmed by the declaration of Kimi Raikkonen, the two McLaren drivers only completed 91 laps between them.
Montagny was just behind Coulthard completing 89 laps on the Renault R23B.
Testing will continue during the week.
