Renault starts test at Silverstone!

Jarno Trulli and Franck Montagny kicked off Silverstone test yesterday. The plan of the team is to conduct a three day test in which to try new aero parts as well as test tyre compounds. Both drivers run a total of 176 laps, 906 kms, to the British track. Both cars conducted initial set-up work before concentrating on testing a variety of new aerodynamic developments. They also conducted a number of programmes concentrating on the ride of the car.

Italian Jarno Trulli run 79 laps to set a best time of 1.18.724 while Montagny conducted 97 laps for a best time of 1.19.719.

Christian Silk, Chief test Engineer, was quite happy of the day's work:

"A productive first day for us here in Silverstone. The expected bad weather did not materialise, and we were able to complete our programmes with both cars. The aerodynamic work provided some interesting results for analysis and, in spite of several small niggles, the cars' reliability was faultless. The forecast is not promising for tomorrow either, but we hope for dry conditions in order to continue making progress."
