Friday practice at the track of Suzuka has been severely affected by extreme wet conditions today.
None of the teams have been able to complete a big amount of laps due to the difficult conditions at the track today.
Renault could only complete 24 laps by both drivers today in the wet track and they were clearly off pace with Villeneuve setting the 10th best time with a 1.49.672, more than 4 seconds behind Michael Schumacher, and Fernando Alonso finished 11th, just behind his teammate setting a best time of 1.49.712.
The Ferrari of Michael Schumacher and the Sauber of Giancarlo Fisichella dominated both sessions as the Bridgestone wet tyres seemed to have the edge over their competitors at Michelin once again.
There is a growing concern over the weather conditions for this Grand Prix as the area is supposed to be hit by a typhoon tomorrow at qualifying time.
