Last Sunday, November 30, I was present at the MotoRAI 2003, a big motor fair in Amsterdam. The aim of my visit was the handing over of a Matrix Reloaded Ducati 998 by Superbike World Champion Neil Hodgson to a very lucky prize-winner - unfortunately not me!
At the Ducati stand I met the winner, a very excited young girl - a big motorsports fan - who has already had her motor driving licence for six years.
After a while Neil Hodgson, who had been talking to all the PR guys and dolls, came up to us. We started talking a bit about this event. He had just flown over from Bologna where he had been doing some promotions for Ducati. While some sportsmen hate to do all the publicity work, Neil clearly has a good time. “Everyday I wake up, I can’t believe my job,” he told us. “This is so easy. Racing is hard, but this is just easy!”

It was something he proved during the official handing over of the Ducati 998, when he kept smiling into my camera, next to an over excited girl, like he had won the bike...
