Jentin Racing is pleased to announce that Hertford based Harris Performance will be joining forces with the team for the remainder of the 2004 season, as a chassis and component supplier, together with an ongoing technical partnership.

Team Manager Bernard Toleman said that Harris Performance had been working with the team all season on the Jentin Yamaha YZF-R1, supplying various components as and when they became available, and had now offered to increase involvement considerably to ensure the Stroud based outfit had every opportunity to continue their strong run of success.

“With the Yamaha YZF-R1 being a new bike this year it has, of course, taken a little time for various components to be designed, developed and tested. Harris Performance are now in a position to supply Jentin Racing with some very welcome back up by providing us with a second chassis, together with some development parts to build into our original bike.

“Our chassis specification is now centred around Öhlins gas forks, together with the latest spec Öhlins rear shock. Harris Performance fully adjustable triple clamps and Harris Performance Grand Prix spec swing-arm. Brembo brakes and Dymag wheels have been used from the outset. This additional support represents a massive boost to the team, as we aim to take James Ellison to the Superbike Cup and, hopefully, compete in some of the remaining World Superbike rounds starting with the next round at Assen.”

Harris Performance has a long history in motorcycle racing at all levels, having designed, developed and manufactured road and racing motorcycle chassis and components for Grand Prix, World Superbike, World Championship Endurance, Isle of Man TT and top Irish road races. Lester Harris said the following.

“Harris Performance is in the business of manufacturing racing products and, from a marketing perspective, it makes sense to bring support in to the British Superbike Championship. This year in particular our focus has been on non-factory backed operations such as Jentin Racing. We have been really impressed with the professionalism and performance of both James Ellison and the team, and we think they deserve our backing.”

This announcement follows the team’s ‘giant-killing’ performance at the recent World Superbike meeting at Brands Hatch, where James Ellison finished a sensational fifth and sixth, making him the best performing Brit.
