Belgian star Fred Fiorentino aims to repeat his race win over Matt Winstanley, and even go one better with overall victory, during the second round of the Maxxis Motard Masters Winter Supermoto series.

DCR Husaberg rider Fiorentino was the only rider to beat Bracken KTM’s Winstanley in the opening round at the Three Sisters circuit near Wigan. Now the experienced Belgian not only hopes to repeat his SM2 race win but also to stop Winstanley taking his second overall victory in the series.

A strong field of riders have entered for the second round at Three Sisters, on 12 and 13 February, but Fiorentino has Winstanley firmly in his sights. Fiorentino’s race win was Winstanley’s only defeat in five finals during the first round, and the Belgian hopes he has the secret of success.

“I took a lot of speed on the long curves before the straights and it helped me pass many riders,” admitted Fiorentino. “I’m confident for the rest of the Motard Masters,” added the Belgian. “Winstanley won all races but the one I won. I’m confident for the future and I hope I can beat him again.”

Series promoters BROXX and race organisers KWS are busy preparing for round two at Three Sisters, on 12 and 13 February, and the final round, which is at Lydd, Kent, on 5 and 6 March 5.
