The Motocross GP of England is well on course to repeat the success of last year’s event on the Isle of Wight, which was one of the highlights of the world championship. Preparations are well under way to repeat last year, when the Gore Basin circuit at Arreton attracted well over 30,000 spectators.

The company behind this year’s GP, 4E Promotions, aim to make this GP the best on the race calendar. Not only do 4E aim to make it the best motocross GP of the year, but they also want visitors to remember 27 and 28 August as the highlight of their year, with top-range entertainment to back up racing featuring the world’s best motocross riders.

They have also released details of the ticket prices, including discounts which can be obtained by booking through the event website. The man who designed the Gore Basin circuit, Johnnie Douglas Hamilton, is back again for this year’s GP, and will take on the difficult task of trying to improve on what the fans voted as the best GP circuit last season. With its panoramic views and rolling layout, Gore Basin offers fans the best view of the action possible.

Mark Chamberlain, of 4E, is impressed with how things have gone so far. He said: “Things are going great. We have a superb line-up of live music, kids’ entertainment, adult entertainment, display areas and much more. With almost all of the operational side in place we can start to focus on the promotional and entertainment side.”

With all aspects of the GP coming together well in advance, 4E have been able to plan track preparation to get Gore Basin in perfect condition for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
“Johnnie will start work on the track six weeks before the event, as it only requires minor changes from last year,” added Chamberlain. “The track preparation is what we want to concentrate on, with the soil being so good at Gore Basin it will cut up like a US National track if we get it right. Ritchie Reid will be in charge of the irrigation, and the improvement from the GP to the British Championship round last year was impressive.”
