The first day of MotoGP World Championship practice at Losail, Qatar, saw Yamaha team-mates Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards dominate the proceedings, and end the day in the top two positions.
Suzuki’s John Hopkins returned to practice after his accident at the very same track, and moved up to fourth place. Considering his injuries he is riding well, and is as determined as ever.
Ducati’s Casey Stoner is in a good position to challenge the leading pair of Yamaha riders, and although Honda’s Dani Pedrosa is down the field, he will also be in with a chance of an upset come race day. His team-mate, present champion Nicky Hayden, is well down the field and will have to find over 1.5 seconds to be in contention with the top two riders.
