Barry Sheene was undoubtably one of the World’s most famous sportsmen and to lose him the way we did was simply tragic. An inspiration to most, Barry Sheene, the hero and the legend, will always live on in our hearts - a never forgotten memory in the lives of all the people who knew him.

Celebrate the life of Barry Sheene, a British icon, and 100 years of motorcycle sport in the UK with the ACU.

On Sunday 6th July 2003, Rugby in Warwickshire will host a very special tribute to Britain’s biking legend Barry Sheene. The ACU in conjunction with Rugby Borough Council - Britain’s most bike friendly town - are putting on a day of entertainment to celebrate the life of the British biking legend.

The day will not only be a tribute to Barry but a chance to celebrate the centenary of the ACU and one-hundred years of bikesport in the UK. It is also an opportunity to raise money for CLIC - Challenging Cancer and Leukaemia In Childhood - the charity nominated by Stephanie Sheene.

After having had many approaches by groups wanting to organise a tribute to her late husband, this will be the only one that Stephanie has given her blessing to.

The day will include an official run of 100 historic bikes, starting at the Ace Café in London, culminating in a parade through the town centre before they are placed on display in Caldecott Park. The Ace Café is supporting the event and any bikers are welcome to make this their starting point.

The day will include lots of entertainment from 10:30 in the morning, including trade stalls, street entertainment, a huge charity auction and much more. Keep checking the news pages, as more announcements will be made, including what items will be up for auction, and which famous names will be taking part!

The ACU are inviting bikers from across the country to enter the Sheene Run and ride to Rugby to show their support for CLIC, and to remember the great British icon - Barry Sheene!

All profits will go to CLIC - Challenging Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood - the charity nominated by Stephanie Sheene.
