Yamaha has announced that it is supporting the battle to find Britain’s best motorcycle sportsman, at Moto1 on October 30-31 at Donington Park.

A selection of Yamaha’s R6 supersport machines will be on offer in the road race element of Moto1, while the thumping WR450F is Yamaha’s machine for the supermoto, and the YZ125 for the motocross.

“Moto1 will be a fantastic event from a spectator’s point of view,” explains Miles Taylor, Yamaha’s head of Marketing, Press and PR. “Watching leading riders from all disciplines, on machines they don’t normally ride, will be a real treat for the fans.”

Taylor adds: “Moto1 also gives Yamaha an opportunity to offer its range of machinery for use by some of Britain’s leading competitors. We’re certain Moto1 will be a really exciting and fun event.”

Yamaha will supply machinery to some of the 24 hopefuls, all looking to win the inaugural Moto1 title. All will do battle during a hectic two days of competition over four disciplines; road racing, motocross, trials and supermoto.

“Yamaha’s support is great news for Moto1,” says event Managing Director Robbie Allan. “Miles and the Yamaha team were one of the first to throw their weight behind Moto1, and we’re sure we can give them good value in return for the support.”

Moto1 will run from 9am to 4.30pm each day. Additional attractions include the final round of the World Stunt Riding championship, a World Long Jump record attempt, freestyle motocross demonstrations, youth trials and motocross, a National Supermoto, two days of road races, a Classic Parade, the ‘world famous’ Purple Helmets and an extensive trade exhibition.

Allan adds: “With Honda and Yamaha already on board, the whole Moto1 event is really starting to shape up nicely.”
