Troy Corser, Yukio Kagayama’s newly signed team-mate, lays out his plans for the 2005 season, stating he is targeting nothing else but to win the World Superbike championship.

Riding alongside Yukio in the Alstare Suzuki Team in 2005, on the new GSX-R1000 Suzuki which was so succesful in the British Superbike series this year - taking John Reynolds to an emphatic win, and also winning the AMA championship in 2004.

The all-new machine having not even turned a wheel this year, Troy stated competing on top level machinery means that the bike will be competitive from the start. It was back in 1997 when Troy last rode a four cylinder machine, which was a Yamaha in the Suzuka 8 hour race, alongside Scott Russell.

When prompted to state who he thought his main rivals would be he said, “There are eight guys on good equipment, and we are on all the same tyres so we are all going to have a good chance.”

The 1996 champion went on to say, “I would like to think I am one of the top guys out there, and it’s going to be tough from the first race, so it’s important that winter testing will give us the chance to get the bike set-up before the season starts - as we don’t want to lose too many points from the off.”

Troy’s best finishes this year were two pole positions, a best second place finish, and an overall ninth position in the championship.

Finally Troy said, “I am going out to win the championship – that’s my goal, not a top three finish but an all out win.” So it’s a case of watch this space when it all kicks off in 2005.....
