News from Maria Costello, the fastest woman at the Isle of Man TT: Hi everyone, I’m just back home after a short stay in Leeds Hospital, where I underwent some surgery to repair my non-union (broken) right collarbone.

The surgeon, Mr JTC Branfoot, has worked on quite a few top racers, including TT ace Jim Moodie, World Superbike racer Mark Heckles, and British Superbike and soon to be World Superbike racer Yukio Kagayama - so despite my nerves I knew I was in very good hands. I’ve had seven screws and a plate placed on my collarbone, plus a bone graft from my hip to encourage healing. Physio is light, but has started and I’m being patient so that it heals fast - as next season looks exciting, with talk of competitive machinery for a new BSB support class - Supersport Cup, and for the IoM and my debut at the NW200 in 2005.
