AdrenalinX supported Bracken KTM Supermoto rider Ady Smith gained some positive results yesterday at the second round of the Maxxis Motard Masters series at Three Sisters, Wigan. Smith, from Burton-on-Trent, Staffs, gained a first, third and fourth in the gruelling series.

Seeing all four seasons of weather in one day, it was a tough test for all the riders involved - having to battle with the elements, snow, rain, wind and also glorious sunshine. The temperatures were below freezing and this played a big part on the day’s racing, as the riders were unable to get much heat into their tyres and therefore no grip.

Smith had to start towards the back of the grid in the first SM1 race, due to sustaining a puncture in the qualifying sessions on the Saturday. This did not deter the 40-year-old as he pushed his was through the field and took an impressive fourth place - securing him a place on the front row for the second race.

He meant business in the second SM1 race and powered his way to the front by the first corner. He completely dominated the race and put his Bracken KTM through its paces, displaying some awesome skills and riding techniques in the process. Fellow KTM rider Matt Winstanley was desperately trying to catch Smith but to no avail - Smith took the win by nearly three seconds.

He was raring to go for the Super Final and got locked up in a tussle in the first corner - and got pushed wide - but was soon battling with the leaders. Whilst Matt Winstanley made the break, after Dave McKee got himself into a tangle, Ady was still fighting hard to stay with the leaders. He was steadily catching second place man Petr Volicek, but it was too late and the chequered lap flag was soon shown, and Smith had to settle for third place.

Commenting, he said, “I had a few problems in the Super Final race. A large stone had struck my exhaust pipe, which caused me to lose a bit of power. I was also having a few problems with the clutch, which was forcing me wide on corners. In general though I am very happy with the result, despite the problems, and I’m really looking forward to the last race at Lydd, Kent, on the 6th March.”
