Audi provide incentive for 2005 British SBK riders

At the official launch of the Bennett’s British Superbike series - held at the Audi Forum in London on 17th March - it was announced that a prize of a new Audi TT limited edition car, worth £30,000, along with the Audi Quattro Performance Award, would go to the best all-rounder in the championship.

The car is one of only 1000 being produced by Audi, and is reckoned to be one of the richest prizes for an individual rider in the motorcycling world.

Points will be awarded to the rider who tops the time sheets in each of the two qualifying sessions, the pole position starter, the winner of each race, and the rider who sets the fastest lap in each of the two races. A league table will be kept throughout the series and updated after every meeting.

One of the most consistent lap breakers last year was Honda UK’s Michael Rutter, who almost broke the lap record at every venue, so he will, I am sure, be wanting to keep his status as the lap breaker and gain this exclusive award.
