The 2005 Bennetts British Superbike Championship did not start out as Kendal rider Dean Ellison had planned, with the Jentin Racing Yamaha. With a series of bike related problems, he was not given the opportunity to carry on where he left of in 2003 - with a string of top ten finishes and the infamous Oulton Park battle for third with the late Steve Hislop. However, Ellison has taken the decision to part from the Jentin Racing team and has furiously been working to set up what has to be said is one of the most professional, competitive teams in the paddock.

This has only been made possible with backing from a great deal of people, who know that with competitive machinery and a solid team Ellison certainly has what it takes to be back running at the front.

The Slingshot Racing Team has been born out of frustration, and is unique in that it is the rider that has brought everyone together to create a team that is focused on one goal, which is running at the front of the field, regularly. All members of the team have experience in either BSB or International series, and together they create a formidable knowledge base.

Ellison will be moving from a Yamaha to a Honda for the remainder of the 2005 season, and has already tested with impressive feedback. The Slingshot Racing Honda FireBlade has been tuned by Frank Wrathall, suspension work by K-Tech, Dunlop tyres, and carries all other modifications that you would expect of a competitive British Superbike.

The Slingshot Racing Team are currently testing and plan to launch at Croft, 3rd-4th-5th June. The striking orange, black and white paintwork may still be wet, but Dean and the team are more than ready to take on what looks like being one of the most exciting British Superbike seasons to date.

Commenting, Dean Ellison said, “With a disappointing start to the season, I’m more fired up than ever before. The team is also sharing my hunger for results, and are desperate to go racing. None of this would have been possible without people believing in my ability, and I’m not going to disappoint.”
