Top twenty finish for Michael Hill at Thruxton 125

Michael Hill and his TABOO Motorsport team overcame engine concerns early in their race weekend to pull in another top twenty finish, with Hill crossing the line in eighteenth place at Thruxton. “Free practice one went really well. I was up to thirteenth and felt comfortable there. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the engine, which meant we had to strip the bike down and use free practice two to run in our spare cylinder,” explained Hill. Due to the running in, Hill dropped to twenty-eighth in free practice two.

Once qualifying was underway, Hill put in some consistent laps to qualify in twenty-third place - further down than he had hoped for. Once the lights went out and the race was under way in earnest, Hill made steady progress forward, finishing in eighteenth place - just outside those much coveted points.

“Even though we had to run in the spare cylinder, I still lapped faster than I ever have at this circuit,” surmised Hill. “We have had some major bike problems this weekend. However, we have two weeks to next race, and we really need to bring in some cash for spare and essential components to allow us to finish the season. I’m not too disheartened, as I am still top twenty in the British 125 Championship.”

The fourth round of the British 125 Championship takes place at Oulton Park, with practice and qualifying on the 29th/30th April, and race day on Monday 1st May.
