Sean Emmett flies out to Chicago today, Wednesday 31st May, in search of a ride. After insufficient funds meant he couldn’t compete on the Ipone-backed Kawasaki in British Superbikes, and not having gained a ride since, Sean has decided to seek out new opportunities in the American AMA championship.
Sean has been in talks with former British Superbike and World Superbike winner Neil Hodgson over the past weeks, and is flying out to meet Neil in Chicago, and hopefully will be able to get a test ride.
Lauren Carter, Sean’s girlfriend, said, “Sean’s been contacting Neil over the past couple of weeks, and Neil said there was a good chance of him getting a ride. Jeremy McWilliams also said that he would put in a good word for him at Buell. By being out there, Sean can introduce himself and hopefully get a test and maybe even a ride.”

Sean was dogged by machine problems at the start of this year’s British Superbike series, and was never running consistently because of this. Hopefully by going to the AMA championships, Sean can do what he does best and race at the front.
Sean will be missed by all his fans here in the UK, but I for one wish him all the very best in his new venture, and hope it won’t be long before he returns.
