A research has revealed that Ferrari is the most reliable team for the current season.

An analysis conducted by German publication Auto Motor und Sport rated Ferrari, which finished the most races, with just one break-down and zero accidents, as the most reliable F1 team.

The one break-down was that of Fernando Alonso's engine at the Malaysian GP in Sepang when he overdrove the car at the final laps.

Among the front runners, Renault finished the worst with 4 retirements and two accidents, while Mclaren were third and Red Bull came second.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner had remarked last month, “Inevitably when you push the boundaries there are a few issues, and unfortunately we’ve had a couple of issues.”

“We had a spark plug failure in the first grand prix that unfortunately prevented Sebastian from winning that race. We had a wheel-nut issue, but also both Mercedes and McLaren have had failures at different grands prix. We had a brake issue in Barcelona but Sebastian still managed to finish in third, so in terms of absolute show-stoppers we’ve only had one mechanical DNF. We’ve had no more, or less, than our competitors.”

Ferrari on the other hand had put behind the intial set backs to bounce back with rigourous developments on blown diffuser, f-duct and front wings.

“We must continue like this and then see where we are at the end. We know we must work even harder and with determination on the development of the car, but our people don’t need me to tell them that," Ferrari President Luca Montezemolo was quoted after back-to-back strong performance in the last two GPs.

Of the new teams, HRT emerged as the most relliable of the three newcomers with eight technical/mechanical failures from 24 starts.
