Ferrari has announced that it would launch their 2011 F1 Challenger at Fiorano in the last week of this month.

According to sources close to the team, the launch is to take place on Thursday, 27 January, after which the cars would then be transported off to Ricardo Tormo Circuit near Valencia for the season's first F1 testing, startin from Feb. 1st to 3rd.

Ferrari are rumoured to be featuring an 'extreme design' for the 2011 challenger.

Team principal Stefano Domenicali speaking on the term 'extreme design' used by their technical director Aldo Costa, said, “When our Technical Director, Aldo Costa, spoke of extreme design, he wanted to spur all our engineers to push on the theme of innovation which, in Formula 1, means exploring all areas right up to the limits set by the regulations and I also hope that will be the case.”

He added, “It is a difficult challenge, because we operate in a very competitive environment: we know that in 2011 we will have to start off immediately with a car capable of winning, so that we are not always having to catch up, as was the case this year.”

The car has already passed FIA crash tests before Christmas.
